White gold and platinum are different.

White Gold
We only use premium white gold which is made up of mixing 75% gold and 25% of other metals such as silver and palladium. It can be made in 18ct, 14ct or 9ct. So the amount of gold in yellow and white is the same but it is the other alloy metals that make up the difference. Once the white gold ring is made up it is then coated with rhodium which is a metal very similar to platinum. The rhodium plating is used to make the white gold look whiter. Should you buy a ring from The Diamond Club, any polishing, resizing, cleaning etc including re-rhodium plating is free for the life of the ring. To keep your ring looking spectacular it is suggested you get it re-rhodium plated every 12 – 18 months. Other jewellers may charge for re-plating.
Platinum
Platinum is a white metal that is used in jewellery in its almost purest form (approximately 95% pure). Platinum is extremely long wearing and it does not need to be rhodium plated like white gold does. Platinum if very heavy and dense so it feels heavier than 18ct gold. It is more expensive than gold approximately on average about twice the price of gold. Platinum is a prestige choice and is often chosen for its sophisticated appeal. It is meanly used is engagement rings and wedding bands.
